Partner Portrait
The person I drew is Brianne. At first, I had Brianne take a picture of herself. After that, I started drawing the template for the face. This is when you draw the basic egg shape for the head and the lines for where the eyes, nose, mouth, and eyebrows go. After that, I chose one spot at a time to develop. First I chose to do the eyes/eyebrows. I zoomed in on the picture of Brianne to see all the lines in her eyes. That day she was really tired, and had bags under her eyes. Next, I did the nose. She has a smaller nose so it was easy to make. After that, I started the lips/smile. She has very noticeable dimples/lines near her mouth and that makes her look realistic. After that, I drew the basic lines of where her hair parted and lays. Next, I added the shadowing and all the freckles. I paid close attention to where her freckles are on her face, and made sure to put them on there. After that, I finished up the face by drawing and shading the rest of the hair. She has curly/wavy hair so I made it that way. To finished everything, I shaded her neck.
I learned a lot during the process of making the face. It takes a lot of time to get it to look like the person you want it too. It took me over a week of class time to finish this portrait. You have to pay close attention to every detail that makes the person look the way they do. Also, I learned that I'm not as bad at drawing faces as I thought, and it's not a horrible experience as I thought.

Self Portrait
For the self portrait, I did the same exact thing as I did the one before. Took a picture, drew the template, and started to develop. First I started with the eyes and eyebrows. Then I went to the nose and ended up redrawing it 4 times. After that, I did the mouth and re did it 3 times. Finally I drew the hair and shaded everything. When I finished, I was kind of disappointed because it doesn't quite look like me. I think only the hair and mouth resemble me. It was harder for me to draw myself. I don't have significant features that make it easy for me to draw similarly.
I learned the same things in this drawing as the other. However, I learned it is harder to draw yourself. I don't see myself all the time, so I don't know how I actually look except for a picture. I could just look up at Brianne and see but I couldn't do that for myself.
