This semester, I feel like I've grown a lot with my art skills, even though we've only had a few projects. I really like this class and I feel like it has helped me a lot. Coming from Art 1 to Art 3 without taking Art 2, I think I've kept up pretty well with the others. I'm happy to be in an advanced class and learn more.
I learned quite a lot this semester. First off, I learned how to shade better and create more realistic drawings. With the rope drawing, It was the first project that tested my skills and I think I did a pretty good job. The rope looks more realistic than I thought I'd be able to make it, so that's pretty good for me. Next, I learned how to use watercolors better. Watercolors are my favorite type of paint to use, and I prefer water color over pencil drawings. With the Snowman I made, I focus on blending the colors as best as I could to make more of an ombre color effect. I also used the salt trick with the snowman painting, to make it look like it was snowing. I was feeling festive when I made it, and it's a really happy and warm feeling painting. Finally, I learned how to make a monochromatic painting. At first, I thought it would be really hard to only use one color, because I thought I would need more than one color to show the bird better. After picking an orange-ish brown color, I worked a lot on the darker parts of the bird, focusing on the feathers and wings. I spent a lot of time on this painting, and I think it's one of my favorite paintings I've done.
I've improved on a lot this semester. I got better at shading, shown in the rope drawing and the first project. I improved with my painting skills, with water colors and the monochromatic painting.
I'm looking forward to the next projects we do, and to improve on other things as well. I hope we do more independent projects and do different things too. I hope we do a lot more projects, because I want to do more than we did this semester.

Semester 2 Art 3
This semester, we did a few fun projects. First, we made clay creatures. I decided to make a turtle/giraffe. It was really hard to get the head to stay in its shape, I had to keep making the neck and front of the shell larger. I also didn't know what to do for the shell. I didn't want to make it a ball and have it explode. I decided to make it a bowl with a lid. Overall, it turned out pretty cute, and I use it to hold earrings. Next we did the above the influence project. We all worked together on it. To make the background, we just added a lot of white paint and spread it out. Then we added tiny drops of different colors and swirled them around. It took a lot of blending to get it to what we wanted, but I am happy with how it looks. The logo was fun to make, we just made a big doodle. It was fun making random designs. For the last project, we made t-shirts. For my design, I used the logo for Twenty One Pilots. They are my favorite band so I chose to do it. It was hard making the stencils, but it was worth it and I'm happy with how it turned out. Finally, throughout the entire semester, I was working on my vans shoes. The first pair was supposed to be local flavor, but I didn't finish them in time for the contest. I decided to do an X-Files themed design. I painted the shoes completely black, then mixed purple and blue and dabbed it on with a sponge. After I got it all blended, I took a toothbrush and put white paint on it. This is how I got the splatters that look like stars. Finally, I painted the designs, The space ships, alien, and the words that come from The X-Files show, "The Truth Is Out There..." and, "I Want to Believe." These are my favorite thing I've made, and I wish they were my size to wear! The next pair was for the "art category" and they were the first pair I made and they took the longest. I made the base with gradient rainbow. That took me forever to blend all the colors together on both shoes. Next I added the swirl layer. I started off painting them on the toe, but that wasn't going well so I switched it to a metallic paint pen. These also took forever to make. Overall, I love how these ones turned out as well. I also wish these were my size to wear!
